Privacy policy

We collect what we need to reply to you and to see which pages and ads work. Most of the services we use are American companies, so your details are stored in the United States. We never sell your details or use them to target you with ads. You can ask us to see or delete them at any time.

Who we are

BottleneckJA is a digital growth consultancy based in Kingston, Jamaica. It is a brand of Vonzucci, a sole trader business registered in Jamaica, run by its owner, Rick. In this policy, “we” means Vonzucci, trading as BottleneckJA, and “you” means anyone using this website or booking a call with us.

Vonzucci is responsible for the personal data BottleneckJA and MikklBooks (our invoicing and bookkeeping app) collect, and handles it in line with the Jamaica Data Protection Act, 2020. For anything about this policy or your data, email privacy@bottleneckja.com.

What we collect

Only what you give us, plus a little about how the site is used.

  • Details you type in: your name, business, parish, email or phone number, your page or website link if you add it, what you tell us is stuck, any extra services you tick on the thank-you page, and whether you’d like tips and offers from us.
  • How you use the site, only if you allow analytics cookies: pages visited, how far you scroll, which buttons you tap, how far you get through a form, device type and rough location (country or city).
  • Where you came from: when you send a form, we save with it the campaign name in the link you followed (if any), the website that sent you and the page you arrived on, so we know which ads and pages bring enquiries. The Google Ads click reference is only kept if ad measurement cookies are on.
  • Your IP address: every website receives it when you visit. We don’t store it. Who else sees it is explained below, under “Who can see your IP address”.
  • For ad measurement, only if you allow it: when you send a form, a scrambled, one-way code made from your email or phone number (a “hash”) goes to Google, so Google Ads can tell us an ad led to an enquiry. Google can’t turn it back into your details, and it isn’t sent if ad measurement is off.

How we use it

  • To get in touch the way you asked, and to prepare for our call.
  • To send the findings and any quote you request.
  • To see which pages and ads help people, so we can improve them.
  • To send occasional tips and offers, only if you ticked the box on the form (or you’re already a client): from BottleneckJA, and also from MikklBooks, our invoice app, if you ticked the box that names it. Every message has a way to stop them.

We don’t use your details for anything else, and we never sell or rent them.

How we advertise

We advertise on Google: ads in Google Search and on YouTube. If you click one of our ads, Google adds a click reference to the link, and, if you allow ad measurement cookies, Google Ads tells us that the click led to an enquiry. That is all we use it for: counting which ads work.

We don’t use your details to build advertising audiences, we don’t show you ads based on your visit here (“remarketing” is switched off), and we don’t upload customer lists to any ad platform.

We don’t use Facebook, Instagram or any other Meta tracking on this site. If that ever changes, we’ll update this page first and ask for your consent in cookie settings.

Between Vonzucci’s brands

BottleneckJA, MikklBooks and any future Vonzucci brands belong to the same business, so your details stay within Vonzucci. We share them between brands only to provide something you asked for (such as the MikklBooks account that comes with a brand kit) or to send you offers you said yes to.

MikklBooks keeps its users’ own records (their books, invoices and customer lists) for those users alone. We never use that information for marketing or to decide who gets offers, and no other brand sees it.

Why we’re allowed to use it

The Data Protection Act asks for a reason for each use. Ours:

  • You asked us to: replying to your request, preparing for the call, sending findings and quotes, and doing work you agree to.
  • Your consent: analytics and ad measurement cookies, the scrambled email or phone code for Google Ads, and tips and offers. You can take consent back at any time (see Your rights); it doesn’t affect what happened before.
  • Our legitimate interest, kept small: knowing which pages and campaigns bring enquiries, keeping the site and forms safe from spam, and keeping records of our conversations with you.
  • The law: keeping invoices and contracts for tax, and answering lawful requests from the authorities.

Cookies

Cookies are small files your browser keeps for us. You choose which ones we use when you first visit, and you can change your mind at any time from cookie settings.

If you switch them off, no analytics or ad cookies are set. The site still remembers a few things in your browser so it works: your cookie choice, light or dark mode, and a chat you’re in the middle of. Cookies set before you switched them off stay until they expire or you clear them in your browser.

Even with cookies off, Google’s tools on this page still send Google a basic signal that a page was visited, without cookies or anything that identifies you by name. Google uses these signals to estimate overall visit and ad numbers. This is how Google’s “Consent Mode” works.

Essential
Keeps the site and booking form working. Can’t be turned off.
Session
Analytics
Counts visits and shows which pages get read (Google Analytics). Also shows, as heatmaps and replays of anonymous visits, where people get stuck on a page (Microsoft Clarity). What you type is never recorded.
Up to 13 months
Ad measurement
Tells us whether a Google ad brought you here and led to an enquiry (Google Ads). Never used to show you ads.
Up to 90 days

The chat on this site

The “Ask a question” chat is an automated assistant, not a person. It runs on Claude, an AI made by Anthropic, an American company. When you send a message, our server passes what you type and the chat so far to Anthropic so it can write the answer. Anthropic gets the words, not your IP address or your name (unless you type it). The assistant only knows what’s on this website.

We don’t keep your conversation. Our database only counts how many chats and messages there are each day. The chat stays in your browser tab until you close it. Anthropic doesn’t use it to train its AI and keeps it only for a short time, as its own privacy policy explains.

Please don’t type passwords, card or bank numbers, ID numbers or health details into the chat. If you’d like us to follow up, use the form, WhatsApp or email instead.

The Money Leak Check

The 2-minute Money Leak Check on this site runs on your phone or computer. Your answers stay in your browser tab and are cleared when you close it. They aren’t sent to us or to anyone else, and we never ask how much you make.

Your answers only leave your device if you choose to send them: in a WhatsApp message you send us, in the booking form, or in a link you share with someone yourself. If you allow analytics, we count how far people get (for example “reached question 5” or “finished”), never which answers they picked.

Who we share it with, and where it’s kept

A short list of services that help us run the business. Each one only gets what it needs, and each is bound by its own terms to keep it safe. Where it says United States, your details are stored or processed there.

  • Cloudflare (United States): hosts this website and our enquiry database. Everything you send through a form is stored in Cloudflare’s data centre region in eastern North America.
  • Resend (United States): sends the confirmation email you get after a form, and the alert we get. It handles your name, contact details and what you wrote.
  • Zoho Mail (Zoho’s data centre in the United States): our mailboxes. Enquiry alerts and any emails between us are kept there.
  • Trello (Atlassian; United States): our to-do board for enquiries. Each new enquiry becomes a card with your name, business, contact details and what you wrote, so nothing gets missed.
  • WhatsApp (Meta; United States): if you message or call us on WhatsApp, or ask us to contact you there. WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted, but Meta sees your phone number and when messages are sent.
  • Anthropic (United States): the AI behind the chat on this site, only for what you type into the chat.
  • Google (United States): Tag Manager, Analytics and Google Ads, as described in Cookies and How we advertise.
  • Microsoft Clarity (United States): heatmaps and anonymous visit replays, only if you allow analytics cookies. It never records what you type into forms or the chat.
  • Our bank and our accountant (Jamaica): only for clients, to receive payments and keep the books.

We share data with the authorities only if the law requires it. Because most of these companies are American, US authorities can lawfully ask them for data they hold; each company says how it handles such requests in its own policy.

Who can see your IP address

Your IP address is the internet address your device uses. Every website receives it. Here is who gets yours when you use this site:

  • Cloudflare, on every visit, to deliver the pages and block attacks. Our own code uses it for a moment to stop anyone sending too many forms or chat messages a minute, then forgets it. We never store it.
  • Google, on every visit, because Google Tag Manager loads on every page and sends the basic visit signal described under Cookies. Google Analytics doesn’t store IP addresses; Google uses them to estimate your country and city. If you click one of our Google ads, Google Ads sees it too.
  • Microsoft, only if you allow analytics cookies, when Clarity loads. Microsoft uses it to estimate your country.
  • Meta, only if you tap a WhatsApp button or message us there, because that opens WhatsApp.
  • Anthropic, Resend, Zoho and Trello don’t get your IP address: our server talks to them, not your browser.

How long we keep it

Enquiries (in our database, mailboxes and enquiry board) are kept for 2 years after our last contact, then deleted. If you become a client, we keep invoices and contracts for 7 years, as tax law requires. Your yes to tips and offers lasts until you say stop. Analytics data is kept by Google for up to 14 months and by Microsoft Clarity for up to 13 months.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • See the data we hold about you.
  • Correct anything that’s wrong.
  • Delete your data, or stop us using it.
  • Stop receiving tips and offers (marketing), at any time, with no reason needed.
  • Take back your consent for cookies at any time from cookie settings.

Email privacy@bottleneckja.com and we’ll reply within 30 days. If you’re not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Information Commissioner in Jamaica.

If your data is ever exposed in a security incident, we’ll tell you and the Information Commissioner, as the law requires.

No decisions about you are made by a computer alone. The site chat answers questions, but a person (Rick) decides anything that affects you, like a quote.

This site is for business owners and isn’t meant for anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us their details, tell us and we’ll delete them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your data, or add a new service that gets it, we’ll update this page and the date at the top first. Big changes will be shown on the site before they take effect.
